Dot NAME Domains

Introduced in 2001, the .NAME gTLD is the sole TLD planned for personal web pages only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other labels people are popular by. Initially, only third-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to reserve john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already grabbed third-level names remained functional.
